Chlorpromazine (CPZ) is a low-potency typical antipsychotic agent that is used to treat psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia. This compound inhibits 5-HT(2A) receptor and dopamine D2 in vitro. It also inhibits sodium channel and blocks HERG potassium channels with IC50 of 21.6 μM.

Mechanism of Action

In vitro

Chlorpromazine exerts a mild decrease in sEV uptake in only one MM cell line, indicating that the uptake of BMSC-derived sEVs by suspension MM cells may not rely on this compound-targeted receptors.[1]

In vivo

Chlorpromazine suppresses the growth of endometrial cancer (EC) tumors in vivo at a low dose with no signs of toxicity.[2]
